Galvenās pārmaiņas notiek ar vienu no mūsu iecienītākajām straumēšanas pakalpojumu lietotnēm, un es ceru, ka tas neradīs lielāku cenu pieaugumu

Our TV viewing experience has become a lot more complicated over the past few years. There are more than a handful of streaming services to subscribe to, and not only can it get expensive, but it can also be overwhelming to decide what to watch on any given night. Here at Cinemablend, we’ve been announcing what we consider to be the best streaming services to date, including Hulu and HBO Max, but we’ve just learned that the Hulu app will soon be shutting down. Let’s talk about what that means:

What we know about the Hulu app, which is officially going away in 2026

During Disney’s quarterly earnings call on Wednesday morning, CEO Bob Iger announced that the Hulu app will soon be “fully integrated” into the Disney+ app, meaning that if you subscribe to both, you’ll have one less app to click on come 2026. The decision comes after The Walt Disney Company decided to buy all of Hulu back in late 2023. Here’s what he had to say about the upcoming big change.

This will create an impressive entertainment package, pairing the highest caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, family programming, news and industry-leading live sports content into one app.

Now, if you already have a Hulu Disney+ Bundle plan, you already have a preview of the upcoming changes. However, the CEO also teased that the app itself will have “improved consumer experience” in the new version of the platform, including “a more personalized homepage for users. Plus, subscribers will still be able to choose between a Disney+ subscription or a Hulu subscription as a separate subscription, rather than having to subscribe to both, to one

What does this mean for future price increases for Disney+ and Hulu?

During the announcement, Iger suggested that Disney+ and Hulu being in the same app would create cost synergies, sharing that the move is “intended to drive higher engagement, lower churn and advertising revenue potential, as well as operational efficiencies that could lead to savings over time that we can put back into the business.”

Now that The Walt Disney Company will be in charge of two massive apps, I’m a little worried that they’ll have reason to raise prices even more, but I will say that since the two services have merged, they’ve offered some great bundle deals every so often. Check out the current Hulu and Disney+ plans below:

Current plans Disney+ and Hulu base options

Hulu (AD supported) $9.99 per month
Disney+ (AD supported) $9.99 per month
Disney+/Hulu Bundle (AD Supported) $10.99 per month
Disney+ (ad-free) $15.99 per month
Hulu (ad-free) $18.99 per month
Disney+/Hulu Bundle (Ad-Free) $19.99 per month

While this sounds like it could actually benefit the consumer, I wonder how this will affect the price increases for Disney+ and Hulu. Disney+ has been slowly raising prices (on par with other streaming platforms) over the past four to five years.

I hope the death of the Hulu app not only reduces Disney’s costs, but also customers’, because we’ll be shocked if it doesn’t! We also hope that the quality of Hulu itself isn’t lowered now that it’s married to Disney+.
