Gina Carano thanked Elon Musk for his financial support after settling with Disney and Lucasfilm over her gender discrimination and wrongful termination claim.

“I want to extend my deepest heartfelt gratitude to Elon Musk,
a man I have never met who did this good Samaritan act for me by funding my lawsuit,” she wrote in a message to X on Thursday. “Thank you Mr. Musk and @x for supporting my cause and asking for nothing in return.”

Carano filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm and Disney in February 2024, three years after she was fired from “The Mandalorian” following a series of controversial social media posts.

She was fired from the Star Wars series in February 2021 after she amplified a social media post that compared Republican America to Jews during Nazi Germany. This came after months of increasingly combative social media posts from Carano that veered toward far-right political views that included vaccine and election denials.

Musk helped fund the UFC fighter-turned-actress’ legal fees as part of his initiative to cover the costs of X users who faced discrimination for being active on his site.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed, but Carano said in her X report that the agreement was “the best outcome for all parties involved.”

“I’m excited to turn the page and move on to the next chapter,” she added. “My passions remain in art, where I hope you’ll join me.”

Lucasfilm said in a statement that they “hope to identify opportunities to work with Ms. Carano in the near future” with her behind them.

Carano appeared in the first two seasons of “The Mandalorian,” in which she played Rebel Ranger Cara Dune.
