If you’re a collector of movie prop replicas, you know exactly which Beetlejuice Sign we’re talking about.

For years, as a Beetlejusice Decor Hunter, there has been one item I refused to buy on principle because it had one glaring flaw: it wasn’t accurate. I’ve bought Adam and Barbara monster face hanging decor, an inflatable sandworm for my lawn, and a “here’s a tombstone ‘here’s Betelgeuse’” but never the iconic light-up sign because it was always the ghost with the most misspelled words.

Here’s what I think. On the left, a scene from Beetlejuice ; On the right, the old version of the Spirit Halloween sign:

The spelling of Beetlejuice has long been a point of contention. Tim Burton’s classic film spells its name Beetlejuice. But throughout the film, Michael Keaton’s wise-cracking dead guy always spells it “Betelgeuse.” It’s visible on the illuminated sign, the tombstone, and the flyer the Maitland family finds.

Whether it was an oversight or the products simply using a recognizable spelling, it always bugged me that the licensed replicas were technically incorrect. And in my household, we like to collect item-specific items, so when we built Beetlejuice Decor, we never bought a sign or any other item that featured the spelling of “Beetlejuice” when it should have been “Betelgeuse.”

So you can imagine my surprise when, while perusing the Halloween website, I noticed that the changes we movie snobs have been waiting for in this, our year 2025:

Here it is, the screen-accurate sign in all its glory. It will finally add a tombstone to our annual Beetlejuice display.

We would like to thank everyone who made it through the fandom search. Now, of course, the hunt is on to find it at our local Ghost Halloween ; Good luck!
