A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employee has been placed under house arrest after making controversial comments about Charlie Kirk.
Gavin Sylvia, a data analyst with FEMA since November 2024, posted on Instagram: “Literal racist homophobic misogynist? [Be f****ing for real].
Following Kirk’s murder on Wednesday, Utah was questioned over President Donald Trump’s order to fly American flags at half-staff.
A FEMA spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “This employee’s words are seditious and disturbing. He has been placed on administrative leave immediately.”
“Celebrating the death of a fellow American is appalling, unacceptable and disturbing.”
Sylvia has previously shared politically charged posts on social media, including one image showing him and his grandmother pretending to vomit in front of Trump Tower.
Even though he is on leave, the public is demanding that FEMA terminate him over the remarks.
“FEMA, Gavin Sylvia must be terminated! Not put on leave! Those of us who pay his salary want him terminated immediately!” one American shared on X.

Trump ordered flags lowered, and all three American flags at the White House were lowered to half-staff to honor the memory of Charlie Kirk
Kirk was struck by a single bullet Wednesday afternoon while speaking to a crowd at Orem Public University.
The father of two, known for his fierce Mag views and exciting debates with college kids across the country, collapsed immediately after being hit by a gun and died shortly after.
Trump delivered a solemn message to the nation hours later, criticizing the “demonization” of political opponents in a four-minute video posted to his Twitter account.
“Charlie inspired millions, and tonight everyone who knew and loved him is united in shock and horror,” the president said.
Trump also ordered flags lowered, and all three American flags at the White House were lowered to half-staff.
It’s unclear when Sylvia shared her post criticizing the order, but reports on X claim it was posted on September 11th.
“This type of behavior does not reflect the values of public service and will not be tolerated at FEMA,” the spokesperson added.
“We expect all officials to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, respect and integrity.”

On Friday, President Trump and federal officials revealed that the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is in custody as the murder investigation continues.
The alleged killer confessed to his father, Matthew, who owns a construction company, sources told the Daily Mail.
He reportedly told his father that he would rather kill than turn himself in, but was convinced to talk to a local youth minister who also worked with the U.S. Marshals Service.
Robinson faces charges of aggravated murder, criminal possession of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice, according to probable cause evidence obtained by NBC News.
Authorities said in a press conference Thursday night that Robinson would face the death penalty if convicted.
