Like Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel opened his show Thursday night by addressing far-right influencer Charlie Kirk, the founder of Durvy Point USA, a U.S.-based organization that aims to spread right-wing ideologies through school campuses . Kirk had built a social media following of tens of millions and was a close ally of President Trump.
In the clip above, the late-night show host talks about the shooting before condemning the “extremely sly responses” he has seen “from both sides of the political spectrum,” highlighting Trump’s words about the “radical left.”
“You’d think that with all these terrible things going on, our president would at least try to unite us, but he didn’t,” Kimmel says. “Instead, he blamed Democrats for their rhetoric. The man who told a crowd of supporters that maybe the Second Amendment should be something people should do for Hilary Clinton , the man who said he wouldn’t mind if someone shot the fake news media , the man who brought down a mob on the Capitol and told Lisa Cheney she should face nine barrels of gunfire fired at her for supporting her opponent, blaming the radical left for their rhetoric.”
