Elizabeth Banks celebrated the female lead nominee at this year’s EMMYS, only for the award to go to the one person nominated in the category.
The TOTALLY PERFECT actress was there to present Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 14) at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Philip Barantini, who was certainly extremely deserving of the win, took home the award for directing Netflix’s Adolescence in the Area.
The other five nominees in the category were women: Shannon Murphy for Dying for Sex Slavery, Helen Razor for Penguin Slavery, Jennifer Getzinger for Penguin Slavery, Nicole Kassell for Sirens and Leslie Linka Glatter for Day Zero in the Field.
One person wrote on Twitter, “Elizabeth Banks, what an intro to that Emmys category, about how women are never nominated just so the only male nominee can win 2 seconds later.”
