Midge Ure has cancelled all of her upcoming tour dates due to an “urgent” health issue discovered during a routine medical check-up.

The Ultravox frontman, 71, will continue with solo shows scheduled for August but has announced a pause on all shows scheduled from September, affecting concerts in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Europe.

Midge released a statement saying that it was with “great sadness and difficulty” that he had to postpone his upcoming tour dates due to urgent medical treatment.

“During a recent routine check-up, doctors discovered a health issue that requires urgent treatment and a recovery period,” Midge said in a statement shared on Instagram.

“It is with great sadness and difficulty that I have to reschedule all performances scheduled from September.”

The Scottish singer-songwriter made the announcement on Wednesday, adding that while he is “truly sorry” for the disruption to fans’ plans, he remains “fully committed” to performing the remaining shows this month.

He said: “I know many of you travel long distances, often across borders, to attend shows, and I never take this support for granted.

“I am truly sorry for any inconvenience or disruption this may cause to your plans.

“I remain fully committed to all of the shows scheduled for this month, and I look forward to being there with you for as long as I can.”

Midge assured fans that her husband of two world tours, currently scheduled for May and June next year, is still “very much on.”

He said: “I am aiming to get back on the road as soon as possible. My team and I are working closely with the promoters to reschedule the affected dates.”

“I kindly ask that you respect your privacy and that of your family during this difficult time.”
