Jessica Chastain has publicly challenged Apple TV+ after the streamer’s decision to hold her upcoming series “The Savant.”
Apple TV+ said on Tuesday it would delay the release of a show about domestic terrorism that follows an investigator who infiltrates online hate groups.
Chastain expressed her opposition to Wednesday’s postponement on Instagram , writing that she and Apple were “not in agreement with the decision to halt Savant’s release.”
Apple TV+ representatives did not immediately respond to the Times’ request for comment.
In her Instagram post, Chastain said, “In the last five years since we’ve been making the show, we’ve seen unfortunate violence in the United States,” going on to cite the January 6th riots and the 9/10 death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in recent years.
“I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and as much as I wish this show wasn’t so substantive, unfortunately it is,” Chastain said.
“Salvation is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and celebrating their courage feels more urgent than ever,” she said.
Chastina said she hopes audiences will be able to see the show soon. Apple has not yet announced a new release date for the series.
