Mirai, directed by Kartik Gattamneni and starring Teja Sajjad, has finally hit the theatres. The fantasy action adventure film marks Teja Sajjad’s return to the silver screen after his blockbuster film Hanuman. Originally a Telugu film, it was released in several languages including Hindi. For the record, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is distributing Mirai in the Hindi belt.
Mirai debuts with Rs 1.25 crore in Hindi, targets good jumps ahead
Set against the backdrop of a fantasy and mythological world, Mirai opened with a net of Rs 1.25 crore at the Hindi box office, which is lower than the opening of Teja’s Hanuman. The film needs to get a good growth on Saturday and Sunday to reach a respectable number in the North Indian belt.
It opened to a favorable reception with some criticism regarding its runtime and comic timing. However, the film has the potential to take off and have a successful theatrical run in North India. It will be interesting to see how the film performs over the weekend and then on weekdays.
Mirai doesn’t have a major release in Hindi this weekend. However, it will have to face Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3 from its second weekend. Let’s see if Mirai can continue Tejas Sajja’s successful streak in the Hindi market or not.
