Jack Osbourne opened up about his late father and rock legend Ozzy Osbourne in an emotional Instagram tribute on Wednesday, revealing he’s struggling with the loss while celebrating how much of a blessing the iconic musician was as his dad.
“I really haven’t wanted to post anything since my father passed. My heart has hurt too much,” Jack said. “I’ll keep it short because he must have hated long, limping speeches.”
His signature was paired with a clip and a montage of photos of Jack and Ozzy over the years. Ozzy’s song “So Nogurle” played over the video.
He continued, “He meant so much to so many people, but I was so lucky and blessed to be part of a very small group that got to call him ‘Dad.’ My heart is filled with so much sadness and grief, but also so much love and gratitude.”
He ended his thoughts by sharing a quote from journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson, which reads: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a neat and well-preserved body… But rather of gliding across the expanse in a cloud of smoke, carefully used, completely worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!’”
“I love you, Dad,” Jack wrote, ending the post.
Ozzy died earlier this month at the age of 76. As previously reported by TheWrap, he died of a heart attack. The rock musician had struggled with a number of health issues for many years, including a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, which he first shared publicly in 2020.
Ozzy was an iconic musician who was the lead singer and frontman of the band Black Sabbath. After leaving the band, he embarked on a successful solo career. The heavy metal singer known as the Prince of Darkness found a kind of second in the public eye through his MTV series “The Osbournes,” which helped revolutionize reality television.
