Actress-producer Pallavi Joshi, who is awaiting the release of her upcoming film The Bengali Files, has revealed details about the logistics of a gory scene from the film’s shoot. The scene in question depicts the aftermath of the uprising in undivided Bengal during the day. The actress-producer spoke to IANS at her residence during the film’s promotions and shared how the team shot the scene with dummy bodies, and prosthetic blood, yet it was very taxing to shoot.

She said, “We’ve heard that there were hundreds of people killed, thousands of people killed, but to show them in that many numbers, it was so overwhelming. And we had a lot of dummy bodies, but then there were also a lot of live actors, or all of our extras playing the bodies, and then they had to be brought in, and then blood was literally pouring buckets all over everything.”

“We’re still technically doing everything right. We were so consumed in the process, thinking, ‘This wound doesn’t look real enough.’ And you put it there, but when the shooting is done, when it’s done, when you get home, and when you’re lying in bed, and then when you go back to realize what you’ve accomplished during the day. It really hits you, and you can’t sleep at night,” she concluded.

Vivek Agnihotri’s Bengali Files is based on the real-life day of action that took place on August 16, 1946. It chronicles the events of one of India’s darkest chapters, when people were brutally killed in the aftermath of the Kolkata riots. The real-life day riots led to several riots between Muslims and Hindus/Sikhs in Noakhali, Bihar and Punjab. Presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha, the film is a worldwide release by Zee Studios and will clash with Tiger Shroff-starrer Baaghi 4 on September 5, 2025.
