Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s latest rom-com ‘Param Sundari’ opened to a warm reception at the box office, but the film has already seen its first big test. After a promising weekend, the Tushar Jalota directorial slipped on Monday, showing a sharp drop in collections. Even so, the film has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark in India in four days.

‘Param Sundari’ started strong with healthy weekend collection

The film had a fair opening on Friday, collecting Rs 7.25 crore. The collections picked up over the weekend, bringing in Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, proving to be the best day at Rs 10.25 crore. At the end of three days, the film had already crossed Rs 26 crore, giving hopes of a steady run.

Box office collections fell sharply on Monday

Janhvi’s rom-com beats her previous films

Despite the slump in its opening weekend, ‘Param Sundari’ has already surpassed some of Janhvi Kapoor’s previous films. What is ‘Param Sundari’ about?

The film tells the story of Param, a boy from Delhi who searches for love through an AI app. His search leads him to Sundari, a girl from Kerala, and their unusual yet heartwarming journey forms the heart of the film. The cast also includes Manjot Singh, Sanjay Kapoor, Renji Panicker, Innayat Verma and Tanvi Ram, all of whom add flavor to the story.

“Param Sundari” review: 3 stars

Times of India gave the film 3 stars and noted, “What works in the film’s favor are the picturesque Kerala backdrops, tender moments and Sachin-Jigar’s music—especially Pardedesiya, Danger and Sundari ke pyaar mein. The arcs drawn by the anti-heroes are believable and enjoyable. The actors light up the screen with their presence, especially Janhvi, who looks gorgeous in a traditional Malayalam avatar. Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Renji Panicker and Siddhartha Shankar lend capable support. Even if it mostly stays in familiar territory, fans of breezy romances will find it an enjoyable watch.”

The film now faces a weekday box office test

With Rs 30 crore in its first four days, ‘Param Sundari’ has made a mark but now faces the test of the opening days. Whether it can pick up the pace or not will decide how big a success this rom-com ultimately becomes.
