Dani Dyer has said she has been left “crying again” as her Strictly Come Dancing co-star spoke out about their sudden exit from the competition.
The 29-year-old TV star was forced to pull out of the 2025 series just days before the first live broadcast after she “landed ridiculously” during a recent training session, and it has now been confirmed that she has suffered a broken ankle.
Danny – who was paired with Nikita Kuzmin for the latest run of the BBC One Dance competition – said: “I had a fall in rehearsals on Friday and landed ridiculously.
“I thought I had twisted my leg, but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday it turns out I have broken my ankle.”
“Obviously it’s not recommended to do QuickStep for a fracture, and the doctors have said I’m not allowed to dance, so I had to pull out of the show.”
Despite this, Dani still plans to watch this year’s Strictly and will instead cheer on the other couples.
Dani – who is the daughter of actor Danny DeVere – said: “I’m going to miss dancing with Nikita so much, but of course I’m watching closely and cheering on all the couples.”

Nikita took to social media with his message on Wednesday (September 24). Alongside a series of pictures of him and Dani, he wrote on Instagram: “So bummed to have ended our trip before it even properly started, the amount of laughter and fun we had in that short time was unbelievable!”
“Really loved our partnership and hope one day we can actually make it to week 1 LOL but Heath is the most important thing. I wish you the absolute best @danidyerxx you are such a sweet, positive and wonderful person!! and it breaks my heart knowing how excited you are to do your absolute best on the show.”
He added: “Hopefully we can host next year. Love from #Danita or #Dakita or #Nani (we haven’t actually decided on a team name in time).”
After the post, Dani quickly responded as she said, “I’m crying again, thank you for being the best teacher ever.. you are the kindest most amazing person. Going to miss our laughter and dancing with you. Let’s try again one day and get our team name right.”
Meanwhile, BBC Studios CEO Sarah James also suggested that Dani could return to Strictly at some stage in the future.
She said: “Dani has brought so much passion, joy and enthusiasm to Strictly and her partnership with Nikita was off to the most sensational start. Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she is no longer able to compete in this year’s series.
“We send her all our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery, and we look forward to welcoming her back to the ballroom in the future.”
