William Shatner has been taken to the hospital by ambulance after a medical emergency.
The 94-year-old Star Trek icon, who solidified his status playing Captain James T. Kirk on the hit sci-fi show and its films, was reportedly admitted after a problem related to his blood sugar levels, sources with direct knowledge have revealed.
The incident occurred late Wednesday afternoon local time in Los Angeles, and Shatner called emergency medical personnel as a precaution, according to insiders.
A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance was dispatched to his home with the actor and former astronaut taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
Sources told TMZ that the star is now doing “good” and “resting comfortably.”
Despite his age, Shatner has remained active and is often lively in public appearances, as well as working on projects related to his Captain Kirk.

Earlier this month, the star revealed that he never made a dime from the Star Trek re-run.
Speaking about his time on the show — which originally ran from 1966 to 1969 — Shatner told The Telegraph : “Nobody knew about reruns.”
“The concept of syndication only came into play after Star Trek was canceled, when one of the unions said, ‘Wait a minute, you’re rerunting all these movies, these shows.'”
“There was a big strike. But in the end, the unions secured the remaining dues shortly after Star Trek was finished, so I wouldn’t benefit.”

However, Shatner, who was married to actress Gloria Rand, 92, during the first filming of Star Trek, and has three daughters, Leslie, 67, 64, 64, and Melanie, 61, insisted that the program had paid him “very well for that up until that point.”
“But by Hollywood standards, not very well – and with a dissolved marriage with three children at that point, I was broke,” he added.
After Star Trek was canceled in 1969, Shatner started a touring company and put on a “one-set Broadway play” in theaters to make some cash.
He recalled that he “booked the whole summer, a week in every city, filling every theater” and “made a living there.”
At the end of the season, upon returning to LA, his struggle eased and “the work started to flow.”
Metro has reached out to Shatner’s representative for comment.
