All the football legend smiled as he smiled for snaps on the trip
Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to share snaps from his “brilliant” holiday with his wife Coleen and a couple of his former Manchester United teammates.
It has been a busy period for the former striker, who recently began working on matchday matches as a pundit.
Former England captain Wayne has covered Premier League highlights for the BBC alongside Newcastle icon Alan Shearer.
Off the pitch, Wayne has been married to his childhood sweetheart Coleen Rooney, who appeared on I’m As Famous, since 2008.
Together, the popular couple share four young sons; Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, 8, and six-year-old Cass.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (September 24), Wayne shared a few snaps from his and Colleen’s trip to Gleneagles, a 5-star luxury hotel, spa and golf course in Scotland.
Joining the couple on the trip were Wayne’s former teammates Michael Carrick and Darren Gibson, along with their wives Lisa Roughead and Danielle Gibson.
Michael, who finished his time in charge of Middlesbrough earlier this year, played for Man United for 12 years, eventually becoming captain before retiring in 2018.
The defensive midfielder married Pilates instructor Lisa in 2007, having met at school and sharing a daughter, Louise, and son, Jaycee, together.
Darren joined Man United in 2005, scoring 10 goals in 60 games during his tenure, which also included loan spells at Belgian side Royal Antwerp and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Leaving Everton in 2012, Darren ended his career at Salford City in 2022. He married his wife Danielle in 2013.
Wayne’s post showed a whole bunch of everyone having dinner together, as well as one of him and Colleen posing in front of a scenic lake as the sun shone.
“A great few days in Scotland with great company,” he captioned his post.
Meanwhile, Danielle shared a separate post from three former footballers’ wives, beaming with smiles during a selfie outside the hotel.
She wrote: “Just a girl on the estate shooting clay pigeons at Gleneagles. An environment that is massively out of my comfort zone.
“We’re working on it a lot at the center, stretching that safety and comfort zone. Just go for it, who knows, you might just enjoy yourself… from the best shooter at Gleneagles.”
