It’s September, which means the fall sales season and early holiday stockpiling are on the horizon. Labor Day is behind us, but the much bigger sales of the year are about to creep up, and Amazon’s October Prime Day (usually officially called Prime Big Deal Days) event is one you can’t miss. The retailer has yet to officially confirm the sale or share specific dates, but expect an announcement soon.
Amazon typically reveals its fall sale dates in mid-September, and last year, the Fall Prime Big Deal Days event took place from October 8th to 9th.

What is the main day of October?
Prime Day in October is the popular colloquial term for Amazon’s annual fall shopping event, formally titled “Prime Big Deal Days.” The event typically takes place in October and is similar to the retailer’s flagship Prime Day event in July.
When is the main Big Deal Day sale?
Amazon hasn’t revealed or confirmed anything about Prime Day October 2025, but we expect the sale to take place sometime in the first couple of weeks of the month. Last year, it was on October 8th and 9th. The sale will likely be another two-day event (although this year’s July Prime Day was four days long), but we’ll keep you posted as soon as any official details are released.

Where is the main day of October held?
Last year, Prime Big Deal Days took place in 19 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Turkey, and the United States. It will likely be live in the same countries, if not more, this year.
Are there usually live deals before Prime Day in October?
We likely won’t start seeing deals advertised just for “Prime Day October” just yet, but Amazon (and the competition) already have plenty of discounts 24/7/365. We’ll start to see a few more deals slowly creeping up, especially as other retailers announce their own sales, which could start before Amazon does.

What are the best retailers to follow for the event?
Any Amazon event will undoubtedly create competition. As we’ve seen before, other major retailers will offer competing sales, deals, and discounts. Walmart, Amazon , Best Buy , Costco , and other retailers will try to compete with Amazon’s October Prime Day deals, often by discounting the same items during the same time periods or extending their own sales. Last year, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and Costco all offered sales events throughout the month of October. We’ll update this article with any information about Amazon’s competing sales as they become available.

Why trust ZDNet to help you shop?
As a ZDNET staff member, I write exclusively about deals myself or as a team member looking to buy — devices and products we want, need, or would recommend. I look for deals where the products are at least 20% off (or almost never on sale), using certain price comparison tools and trackers to determine whether a deal is on sale and how often it drops.
I also look at customer reviews to learn what matters to real people who already own and use the products in my picks. These recommendations may also be based on my testing (or that of other ZDNet experts), as well as extensive research and comparison shopping. The goal is to provide the most accurate advice to help you shop smarter. ZDNet brings 33 years of experience, 30 hands-on product reviewers, and 10,000 square feet of lab space to bring you the best tech.
Plus, in 2025, ZDNet improved its approach to deals by developing a measurable system for sharing savings with readers like you. Our editor’s deal rating badges are attached to most of our deal content, making our expertise easy to interpret to help you make the best purchasing decision.
