Ed Davey has mocked Elon Musk after the tech billionaire called him a “craven coward.”
The X owner used his social media platform to attack the Lib Dem leader after he called on Keir Starmer to condemn Musk’s comments to the far-right in London on Saturday.
He told the crowd that they would have to “fight back or die” if they wanted to defend their country.
“Violence will come to you,” he said. “You will not have a choice. You are in a fundamental element here where, whether you choose violence or not, violence comes to you. You either fight or you die. That is the truth.”
The Metropolitan Police later revealed that 26 officers had been injured in clashes with protesters, four of them seriously.
Davey posted a copy of his letter to Prime Minister X, prompting Musk to respond: “You are a craven coward.”
The Lib Dem leader responded with a parody of the cartoon character Sponge Bob: “You are a craven coward.”
It’s not the first time the couple has clashed online.
Musk called Davey a “sniffing cretin” in January after the Lib Dem leader said he “clearly knows nothing about Britain”.
This was in response to Musk’s comments about the childcare scandal.
He said that government minister Jess Phillips should be in prison and called on America to intervene to bring down the Labor government.
A party source told HuffPost UK: “We need to hit him in the pocket where it hurts.”
