The Emmy Awards are almost here, which means your favorite TV shows from last year could be taking home well-deserved wins. I think it’s time to start the comedy or drama debate over the bear again.

EMMYS eligibility rules say that programs must premiere new episodes between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. This year’s top contenders include one from Netflix (the limited series Adolescence), two from Apple TV Plus (Severance and Studio), and HBO’s The Penguin.

This year’s hosts are Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who will reunite on stage for the 25th anniversary of Gilmore Girls. To guide us through the spooky season, Wednesday’s Season 2 stars Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones will also be on hand.

Comedian Nate Bargatze will host the big show. Here are the details on how to watch it.

How to watch the 77th Emmy Awards

The 77th Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m. PT (8:00 p.m. ET) in the region. The event will stream live to users with a Paramount Plus premium subscription. Those who subscribe to Paramount Plus’s Essential tier in the U.S. will be able to access the special the following day.

If you’re interested in watching the event via a live TV streaming service, you can try YouTube TV. It carries CBS and has a free trial for new customers. Hulu Plus Live TV also carries the network.

With Paramount Plus, you have two plans to choose from: Paramount Plus Essential, which costs $8 per month and has ads, and Paramount Plus Premium (formerly Paramount Plus with Showtime), which costs $13 per month and is mostly ad-free—you’ll see ads while watching live TV. All of Showtime and your local CBS station are included with this plan.

If you want to watch the 77th Emmys live without cable, YouTube TV might be the right choice for you. The live TV streamer is $83 per month and features, as our review of the service puts it, “the best channel selection you’ll find.”

Hulu Plus Live TV subscribers get access to CBS and will be able to watch the Emmys live or on-demand the next day. Hulu Plus Live TV costs $83 per month for the ad-supported tier, and it comes with a three-day free trial and access to Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. For $12 a month more for the premium plan, you’ll get the same thing, but with no ads on Disney Plus and on-demand Hulu. For more information, check out our Hulu Plus Live TV review.
