Erin Doherty kept Emmys producers on their toes at this year’s ceremony when her acceptance speech was partially broadcast live.
During Sunday night’s event, the British actor took to the stage to accept his award in the Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for his role in Adolescence in the Area.
However, not all of her speeches made it to the broadcast.
The star, who previously played young Princess Anne in The Crown, concluded her two-minute speech by declaring, “Thank you to the Academy and you are all fucking awesome.”
Luckily, while the TV version pulled the audio at the end of Erin’s speech, when the clip landed online we finally got to hear it in all its monstrous glory. Listen for yourself below:
Elsewhere in Erin’s speech, she thanked the team who worked with her during her teenage years, with a special shout-out to her co-star and show co-founder Stephen Graham and his wife Hannah Walters, who Erin called “generosity personified,” despite him apparently joking earlier in the night that her dress made her look “tea-faced.”
In a more heartfelt moment, Erin also dedicated the award to her sister Grace (“I wouldn’t be here without you. I love you with all my heart,” she enthused) and her partner Sinead for “making me the happiest person in the world.”
“I love you with everything I have,” Erin said.
Erin was awarded her first Emmy for her role as psychologist Briony Ariston in the Netflix drama Adolescence.
Teens sweep the board at the 2025 Emmys with their lead Owen Cooper becoming the youngest ever winner at the awards in the area
The four-part drama also won Best Limited Series, as well as awards for its directing and writing, as well as awards for Stephen Graham.
Filmed in one continuous take, the show was a hit with critics and audiences alike, thanks in no small part to its heavy subject matter of teen violence and online radicalization, as well as its technical brilliance.
